Lexi-Bell
Lexi-Bell (named after Liberty Bell-meaning freedom) approx 6-7 yrs old. My sweet Lexi Bell passed away suddenly on 4/25/11 of an apparent heartattack. Not knowing what was happening to her, we rushed her to the emergency vet and I held her in my arms and her head on my chest so she can hear me talk to her and she can feel my heart beat. But God had other plans for her and called her home. She had such a trusting soul. I remember when I first saw her, so exhausted from her 10 hr trip from Kansas to Illinois. I open her crate and she looked at me like "who are you" I gently pulled her out of the crate and said "You're gonna be my friend and I'm going to love you so much". It took her a few days to warm up to me and for her to trust me but she quickly learned how to be a cherished loved dog like she deserved. Her favorite word was "snack". She loved taking long walks with her brother Bunker and her new pink leash and collar. She was so proud as she walked next to me and she smiled like she was saying "See me and my new Mommy". I'm going to miss my Lexi Bell but I know that the last 1 1/2 years of her life she loved and was loved by all. In her honor, I will move forward and rescue another sheltie that needs a loving home like she had.  Lexi, until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge, please watch over us. I love you and miss you so much. Love Mommy.

"Good Bye My Friends, I'm sorry I had to leave my family and friends Monday July 25th at 6:30 in the evening. I was too sick to fight the terrible, terrible hidden cancer that had taken over my body while I was living such a happy life with my family. No one knew that the cancer was there, not my vet, not even me. I was so lucky to have been able to spend the last year of my life with my mom at home. She wasn't working that whole time that the cancer was building up inside me. I was so happy to be able to play with my mom whenever I wanted, that the cancer just stayed away long enough to let me enjoy my time with my mom. I would ask her to take me to the park, and she would! I had picnics, walks in the rose garden, walks around my neighborhood, and trips to the dog park too. We would wrestle on the Big Bed and take naps together. I really loved it when she would brush me, put the pretty bows that she made for me in my fur, and pet me till I fell asleep. In June, when the cancer made me too sick to be able to do those things anymore, I was ready for my rest. My mom was MY best friend that day. Don't cry for me my friends. I'm at Rainbow Bridge where Cuailgne and Lindsay met me and showed me the big blue lake that us pups can sit by. When the water is very still we can see you all! I love you. I love you mom, dad, Connor, my friends Kylie, Rani and all my other Pals. I must say a special goodbye to my Auntie Linda, who loves all little Shelties so much that she spends her life helping us unwanted pups. Thank you for keeping the promise to help me find my forever home. I had a happy life with my mom, dad, and Connor. I love you Auntie Linda . xoxoxoxo xoxoxoxoxo"
